Good news we can add Manchester University to our growing list of Frameworks.
Frameworks fare included in the company’s five year business plan. The company is extremely strong with regards to frameworks and partnered contracts which total 60% of annnnual turnover.
We look forward to working with the University with whom we have a long working relationship with cemented by this latest framework.
The official opening of the Exemplar Designed primary school – Devonshire Road took place today, 22nd April.
Present at the opening ceremony was Blackpool Mayor, Robert Wynne and Olympic Heptathlon Champion, Denise Lewis OBE who officially opened the school.
Denise took questions from the school’s pupils before showing them her gold medal.
She spoke to them of her ambitions at an early age and told them to follow their goals, to fulfill their dreams. She was then shown around the school.
The Board was pleased to announce in December that Steve Williamson – Senior Quantity Surveyor – Bury Office, had accepted the position of Regional Manager responsible for the continuing growth and success of the Bury office within it’s operational area. This is in recognition of Steve’s commitment and hardwork to ensure Bury’s success.
We are pleased to announce that we have been successful in our application to be included on Wigan Metropolitan Borough Council’s Framework. We have worked with Wigan on a number of projects the most recent being Golborne Primary School. It is good news that we have cemented our relationship with the council by securing work for the next few years.
Following many years of planned growth at Parkinson’s, the company wishes to develop the management team and allow them to exercise their authority, this will enable the company to continue with its controlled expansions.
With this objective the Directors are delighted to make the following announcements regarding the re-structuring of the company.
In acknowledgment of the York office’s continual improvement, performance, commitment and successful managing of the North East region the Directors are pleased to announce that Steve Jackson has accepted the position of Regional Director which is effective from 1st December 2007.
Also from the 1st December 2007 Steve Williamson will become the Regional Manager of the company’s Manchester office. This is in recognition of Steve’s commitment to the regions growth and his hard work in ensuring its success.
The company’s office in Bury is developing a strong working relationship with Manchester City Council as partnering contractors on the Small Works Framework.
Currently the Manchester team are on several sites with a total value in excess of £2m along with an additional 2 non framework sites worth £1.2m
The site was recently inspected by CCS Monitor who made the following comment “The project benefits from a great deal of enthusiasm by the contractor and the school. A good cooperative relationship obviously exists. The wider community of parents and neighbours are well informed about the work.” The site received the score of 33½ out of a possible 40. Well done to all the site personnel.
Our York office continues to go from strength to strengtht with the contract to construct extensions to several primary/infants schools to form child centres for North Yorkshire County Council.
The values of each range from £300k to £600k with all scheduled for completion by spring 2008
Steve joined the company upon leaving his local grammar school to train as a Quantity Surveyor. He has progressed through to become the Regional Manager in 2003. Since that appointment he has been instrumental in revitalising the company’s success in the North East region with the York Construction Centre contributing to 30% of the company’s annual turnover. In recognition of his hard work and commitment to the company Steve was rewarded with a position on the Board as Regional Director.
The Parkinson team came in 1st with a winning time of 4hrs 29min 11 seconds some 19 mins ahead of 2nd place!
The 6 man Parkinson Team was made up of both site and office staff and with the aid of sposorship from the company’s sub contractors and supply chain the team raised in excess of £2,200.
The challenge was to run and pedal from Keswick down to Holker Hall up and over the heavy Lake District terrain.
Not bad for a days work. All monies raised goes to The British Heart Foundation

The company’s Bury office is being kept busy with the Manchester City Framework which is going from strength to strength.
Currently we are on 8 sites with works ranging from £100k to £500k total value in excess of £3 million.
Although we are not in a framework agreement our York office has just completed six Children Centres for North Yorkshire County Council. Total value in excess of £3 million with all projects partnered. More on these contracts can be found in Partnered Projects.
We are pleased and proud to announce that Devonshire Road Primary school has been selected as a winner at the recently held North West RIBA Awards. The exemplar designed school was one of 7 winners who now go on to the RIBA National Awards held in June at the London Hilton.

2007 has started off well with two more frameworks being added to our growing list! The most recent being the North West Consortium of NHS Trusts.
We now have excellent relationships with a number of key clients with whom we are the preferred contractor in agreements throughout our operational area.
Being included on approved lists can secure us work for a number of years. This security allows controlled planning and strategy ensuring financial stability and resorces being available to support the future needs of our clients.
