“Building Bridges” to support Career Aspirations

Parkinson has recently attended two careers days to give local young people an opportunity to experience and understand the wide range of career options open to them.

The first one attended was the Manchester City Council ‘Careers Aspiration Event’ on Monday 9th March where we hosted an interactive stand at the Manchester Central Convention Centre.

The second event was the ‘Rochdale Skills Event’ on Wednesday 11th March where we had exhibition space to to conduct a similar activity to that provided in Manchester.

Students were tasked with working together through effective communication in order to build a bridge from one table to another with the fastest times winning prizes. Staff from apprentices to directors attended both career days in order to give the young adults career advice in a wide range of disciplines and levels.

Angela Harrington, Head of Regeneration for Manchester City Council said “I was really impressed by the efforts you had made to deliver such a wide range of interactive activities that truly gave young people the opportunity to ‘have a go’.  When I visited, I was delighted to see the young people from our Manchester schools really engaged with the activities on offer.

This was an invaluable opportunity for our young people to be motivated and inspired by the wide range of career options available to them and will help them to decide which route they want to take into work in the future.”
