Launch of the Safety Best Practice Reward Scheme

We are always looking to encourage people to go one step further and show initiative and consideration for others.  Consequently, in 2016 we implemented a ‘Safety Best Practice Reward Scheme’.

A credit voucher and certificate is awarded to any of our employees, supply chain or visitors who fulfil the above criteria and demonstrate exemplar Health and Safety awareness.

Our Health and Safety Manager, Paul Dixon, selects best practice from his site and office observations and audits. In addition, nominations for the award are also encouraged from all members of staff.

Our latest winner was Andrew Parker from Chris Bowker Mechanical whilst working on our project at Royal Albert Edward Infirmary in Wigan. He was nominated by our Site Manager, Chris Howard who said that “Andrew has shown great initiative in setting up an extract fan to an existing piece of vertical work which vents to atmosphere following on from the removal of the old air handling unit.  He set up his on site fabrication working area to this location in order to ensure that all fumes were extracted out of the hospital and working areas as quickly as possible. Thus a safe working area was achieved.”

The best practice realised from the initiatives which achieve an award or are nominated will be communicated to all personnel to ensure lessons are learnt throughout the organisation. Thus ensuring continuous improvement is achieved.
