Partnering

Partnering came naturally to Parkinson and fitted comfortably with the company ethos.

As partners, we provide our clients with greater innovation in the building process and in the way we communicate.

Costs are managed by using “open-book” methods, where preliminaries, overheads, and profits are openly agreed and measured.

Cash flows for the projects are established and managed with target costs agreed in advance. This results in greater control which benefits the whole of the supply chain.

Open book methods initiated in the early design stages are continued on site, allowing an extremely close working relationship to be struck between key design team members and the on site team. Strong relationships benefiting all parties in the event of issues arising on which were difficult to establish prior to arrival on site. Significant client design changes are swiftly managed and absorbed by the delivery team with minimal effect to progress on site.

As part of our responsibility, we investigate and develop best performing materials, construction techniques and design which will provide the learning environment as stated above and also a sustainable building which will achieve best economic costs throughout its life period. This will be part of our cost and design “Best value” development at the commencement of the project.

On many projects the client’s share of the saving has been returned back to the project by way of added value in the form of enhanced finishes, artwork, remodelling, furniture etc. Our quality and service delivery is key to being selected by many public sector clients, where price may only represent a small element in our selection.

We have endeavoured to meet all that has been asked of us, not only in the construction process but also in the duty placed upon us in working with all parties concerned in the project, technical and public alike, attending evening and weekend meetings to help achieve the objectives of involvement and contribution by all related to a project.

“Me and my friends love the dance studio, the hall is massive and the teaching rooms, so I would like to say a big thank you!!!”
