We believe that responsible stewardship of the natural environment is essential for business efficiency and success.  By successfully obtaining the International Standard ISO 14001 in 2008 we have set out the policy and commitments that give power and action to that belief.

Parkinson has a wealth of experience in delivering buildings to the requirements of the BREs BREEAM scheme, including a number of buildings achieving the “excellent” rating. Over the recent years our involvement with BREEAM has increased due to both the nature of the contracts and our client’s requirements.

Preserving Natural Resources

As a Company it is our practice to examine the source of materials and their manufacture. By example, we take care to ensure that timber used in our construction process is from an accredited source, particularly in the case of imported hardwoods, to ensure that they are not “pirated” materials.

Waste Management

The company uses the BRE SmartWaste online system. This system allows us to create a BREEAM accredited site waste management plan at pre-construction and update it through the life of the project. Our waste management sub-contractors are vetted and their details are also logged in the SmartWaste system which can be viewed / checked by any interested party. Our waste management contractors recycle, reuse or recover our site waste off-site and provide us with an accurate log of what percentage of the waste falls under each of the European Waste Catalogue categories and how much of the waste has been diverted from landfill.
