Elm Bank Specialist Arts College

This project at Elms Bank Specialist Arts College was the extension works to form new ‘scape’ building with links to the existing school.  To minimise disruption to the school which remained occupied, the scheme was split into of 5 key sections:-

Section 1

This first section began with the construction of the new classroom block upper ground floor (room numbers 1 to 28) and lower ground floor (room numbers 30 to 52), it also included alterations to existing gym stores, windows, adjacent classroom roof and the breaking through to existing school corridor.

Section 2

This section included the construction of new multi-use games area (MUGA) pitch including the installation of adjacent fencing, gates and other general external works including perimeter paths and upper patio area. Also included in this phase of works was the installation of land drainage and a new football pitch.

Section 3

Section 3 comprised of the construction of new link corridor room number (29), new circulation corridor room number (53) and new staff workroom room number (54). It also included alterations to adjacent existing classroom windows, alterations to adjacent roofs and breaking through to existing school corridors.

Section 4

This section saw the demolition of garage buildings and three temporary classroom units including associated corridor, ramps, external walls and fencing.

Section 5

The final section consisted of the removal of the existing pedestrian entrance and the construction of new vehicular entrance /exit, roadway, pedestrian entrance, parking areas, minibus dropping off spaces and new fencing / gates and the construction of new main entrance canopy.
