Gladstone Road Junior & Infant School

The project at Gladstone Road Junior and Infant School comprised of:-

  • The construction of a new build extension to provide further teaching accommodation for the Junior School.
    • An extension to the Infant School.
    • The refurbishment and alteration to various other parts of both of the existing schools.
    • The demolition of a disused single storey factory building and a HORSA classroom unit which was a pre-fabricated concrete and steel building built in the 1940s.
    • The creation and installation of a multi-use games area.
    • Various associated external works.

The above works were programmed to be undertaken in 5 phases to minimise disruption to school as it remained in occupation throughout the majority of the contract period.

Due to the location of the works close liaison was maintained with the nearby residents and local businesses to keep them informed of the progress of the works.  In addition a comprehensive traffic management plan was created to help ease congestion to the surrounding busy roads.
