Parklee Primary School

The project of a new extension to the school consisted of 4 classrooms, 1 music room a resource area, library and new toilet facilities. By moving the infants from the stand alone Nursery into the main school building with the other children allowed the Nursery to be demolished and additional external play areas were created.

During the school’s 6 weeks summer holidays, refurbishment works were carried out within the existing school building. This included removal of internal walls to create larger teaching spaces, heating and electrical upgrades and decoration. As well as this the plant room was upgraded, boilers were replaced for more modern efficient ones and a new gas water heater was installed to cope with increased demand.

Feeds from the new plant room were taken through the school to the new extension also during the school break so as not to disturb classes upon the children’s return.

The school also upgraded the 30 year old school kitchen over the holidays, this involved a full strip out, new hygienic wall coverings, new extract system, floor coverings, electrics, stainless steel work stations and of course all new industrial appliances.

Whilst on site at this project we sponsored a new football kit for the school, our Health and Safety mascot Isla Be Safe attended an assembly and we also contributed to the planting club by donating strawberry plants.

“(We were) impressed with the quality of construction executed by Parkinsons as well as the way in which the building’s size and arrangement respected the proportions of the local streetscape whilst providing space in ingenious ways.”
