Our established Apprenticeship programme has been running for over 35 years and many of our Apprentices have gone on to progress and develop into management roles within our company.

With our Apprenticeship scheme and our ongoing commitment to the training and development of our staff, we have been awarded the Investors in People accreditation and are proud to maintain a high level of in-house trade skills. Our Apprenticeship scheme integrates what we believe to be the key aspects to a successful Apprenticeship programme; education, the work environment and personal development.

Our next Apprenticeship placements will start in September 2018 and we are now seeking applications from individuals who are keen to develop their craft skills in Joinery. We have three Level 2 Joinery Apprenticeship places to offer, one in each of our regions; Manchester, Blackpool and York.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a well established and welcoming team where you will be given the hands-on practical experience and the college tuition required to become a fully trained and qualified trades-person.

The personal qualities and competencies required are:

  • Enjoy using your practical ability.
  • Have good coordination skills.
  • Enjoy working as part of a team.
  • A good level of maths for calculating angles.

Quantity Surveyor

The Role: A new and exciting opportunity has arisen for a commercially astute individual to perform quantity surveying duties on projects in Blackpool region.
Based at our Head Office in Blackpool, the successful candidate will be responsible for the financial control of the company’s construction projects.
Responsibilities: The successful candidate will have the following responsibilities:-

 Obtaining and analysing sub-contractor quotes and placing orders
 Preparation of monthly valuations
 Measures and re-measures and substantiation of such for valuations
 Highlighting potential contractual implications
 Client liaison including settlement of final accounts
 Cost and value reconciliation and the production of periodical cost and value reports
 Management of any extension of time/ programme issues in respect of financial claims
 Maintenance of sub-contractor accounts, including the issues of relevant certificates
 The interpretation of contract terms and conditions
 Assist in the estimating procedure

Site Manager

Site Manager – Blackpool

Our Blackpool regional office has the resources to undertake projects up to £10 million in value. Our sectors include education, health, commercial, industrial, heritage and leisure.

The Role: We are looking to recruit a dedicated and competent Site Manager to take responsibility for the management of site operations from the initial project planning through to final contract hand-over. Operating within the York region, the successful candidate will oversee all aspects of health and safety, quality, environmental and commercial control on their designated project. Applicants should be able to demonstrate their ability to make well considered decisions that positively influence the out turn of a successful construction project whilst leading and managing labour to ensure projects run smoothly and to schedule.

Projects will range in size and value from £150k up to £5m. The ideal candidate will be commercially astute with demonstrable competency in managing projects of this scale.

Responsibilities: The successful candidate will have the following responsibilities:-

  • Construction activities for the project from planning to handover
  • Ensuring the construction works run strictly in line to programme whilst maintaining high quality, environmental and safety standards
  • Leadership and management of labour and subcontractors and all works undertaken
  • Leading regular site meetings with all interested parties
  • Liaison between all team members including the client
  • Health & Safety on site – ensure that all contractors carry out their duties in such a way as to minimise the risk of injury to employees, sub-contractors, and the general public
  • The undertaking of annual appraisal and development for site operatives
  • Managing all resources effectively, efficiently and economically
  • Assisting with works on site as required with a commitment to teamwork and getting the job done

  • CSCS carded with a current SMSTS and First Aid at Work certificate
  • Full UK driving licence
