Each year we look to support a different charity at Christmas, this year we donated to Baby Beat at Royal Preston Infirmary in memory of our friend and colleague Victoria Molloy.
Baby Beat was established in 1987 by a group of midwives and a consultant obstetrician to provide additional foetal monitoring equipment for the growing maternity unit at the old Royal Preston Infirmary. Today, with the vital support of our local community and businesses, Baby Beat raises funds for babies, mums and mums-to-be cared for by the two maternity units and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit which are part of Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. They fund specialist equipment, patient services and comforts, clinical care, local research and training. Everything they fund is additional and complementary to what the NHS provides and makes a real difference to families from across Lancashire and South Cumbria when they need it the most.
Through the kindness of staff and our clients we raised an amazing £1,040 for the charity.
Baby Beat Community and Events Fundraiser Sue Swire (pictured, with Finance Director Bobby Wilson) said; “The Baby Beat team were delighted to be the chosen charity of F. Parkinson last Christmas, and overjoyed when we were presented with a cheque for such a wonderful amount. Although the F. Parkinson team chose to fundraise for us following very tragic circumstances – in memory of a colleague and her baby boy who were cared for on our maternity unit, but sadly passed away – these funds will go to excellent use. They will make a huge difference to the care our clinical colleagues can provide for the mums and babies that are looked after in our hospitals. Corporate fundraising like this, undertaken by local businesses of all industries and sizes, is a vital source of income for Baby Beat, and we can’t thank F. Parkinson enough.”
